kind words

  • As a mother, it was extremely heartbreaking to see my daughter want/need something so desperately and not be able to help her get it. After listening to the video, I was more intentional about supporting her needs. I tried to give her encouraging words and not press her about studying. I was elated when she yelled out, "I passed!" I truly believe the coaching she received made the difference.

  • As a father, it is extremely difficult to watch your daughter endure so many intense challenges in an attempt to achieve her goal. To be part of the emotional roller coaster that she endured was intense, wishing one day it would all be over. With Dr. Erica's assistance, nurturing, and guidance she made our dreams come true. I would like to take this time to say a big "Thank you" for everything. As far as I'm concerned, Dr. Erica is part of the family. Bless her!

  • It made me sad to watch my mom struggle to pass the exam. After listening to the audio, I started behaving better and contributing more to the house so it would be easier for her to study and she'd have less on her plate. I felt happy and excited when Mommy passed!

  • Dr. Shanté is my little sister. It was hard to watch her struggle to pass the exam because I know she was studying so hard to no avail; all while being a full time mother to two very energetic children. After listening to the recording, I tried by best to let her vent while being encouraging. I was especially proud when she called me while opening her license. It was special and a great privilege for me to witness.

  • Watching my girlfriend struggle to pass the exam was frustrating, like I had an inability to help. Watching the video helped me learn to be patient, and to help her any way possible. When she passed it was like a dark cloud was lifted and like all of her hard work paid off. Passing meant she was one step closer to achieving her goal of being in private practice.

Make a Plan

Remember test takers often love to give to others, but may find it difficult to receive. You can play an important role in helping them to maximize the support they can receive from you and others.

Goals for your meeting:

  • Find out ways you can help (e.g., encouragement, accountability, help with child care etc.)

  • Clarify how often you will see each other or spend time together while they are prepping for the exam.

  • Encourage them to think about more people who could provide help.

  • Ask them if you can share this webpage with others so more people can support them.

  • Ask them to share their study schedule so you can respect their study time and not call or distract them (excluding emergencies).
